Misfortune ft. Morgan Toney

The new single from Andre Pettipas and The Giants

Grease Coast Rock N’ Rollers, Andre Pettipas and The Giants dial back the tone knob with a little help from their friend, Morgan Toney on ‘Misfortune.’

Ruminating on the trials and tribulations of trying to “make it” in the music industry; going for broke and scrapping to stay alive.

Produced by Brian Moncarz (Alice Cooper, Our Lady Peace, The Tea Party) and mastered by Randy Merrill (Foo Fighters, Harry Styles, Nirvana), ‘Misfortune’ takes you to a place that Andre Pettipas and The Giants haven’t visited before with a softer, hook laden song in the realm of Lumineers and the softer side of The Tragically Hip.

About Andre Pettipas and The Giants

Andre Pettipas and The Giants are a rarity - an act who absolutely refuse to let anything take the fun out of their creative process; performances on record or on stage, and with absolutely no fear of stopping outside the box to get their message across.

With the release of their new studio album, ‘Under Control’; recorded in summer 2022 at The Tragically Hip’s studio, The Bathouse, the band plans to build on the success of their previous release, 'No Fools No Fun.’ That album was nominated for Rock Album of the Year at ECMA and Nova Scotia Music Week. It also garnered the band a top 30 Billboard Active Rock charting song (Sympathy Card), a spot on the NHL Stanley Cup Finals (Overtime) and also lead the band to recording a live album at legendary El Mocambo album in Toronto during their release tour.

Summer ’23 started out full steam ahead with another placement on the NHL Stanley Cup Finals (Sin City) before the band took the release on the road for two Cross Canada tours which included showcases at Canadian Music Week (Toronto) and COCA Student Summit (Vancouver.) They also produced their first festival called, “Giantstock” in Merigomish, Nova Scotia on Labour Day weekend.

“Under Control” was recently nominated for East Coast Music Association’s “Rock Recording Of The Year.”

About Morgan Toney

Music’s an almost alchemical force to Canadian Mi'kmaq fiddler and singer Morgan Toney. In just a short amount of time, Toney has invigorated both the Atlantic music communities and Mi’kmaq communities by bringing together the fiery fiddling of Cape Breton Island with the old songs of the Mi’kmaq, some dating back up to 500 years. He calls this fusion Mi’kmaltic (Mi’kmaq + Celtic) and it's his way of celebrating his language and heritage. With the immediate accolades and attention, it’s easy to forget that Morgan Toney is so new to the music, having only played the fiddle for a few years. But there’s something deeper at work here. His great-grandfather and three other great-uncles were all Mi'kmaq fiddlers of renown in the community. In a sense, Toney’s coming back full circle.
